Stella Bella Wines Tasting Event in Beijing

Stella Bella, a respected name in Australian wines industry, recently held a wine tasting event in the Chinese capital city. As wine exports of Australia to the Chinese mainland grows, there is an increasing interest among the boutique wineries to further boost their sales by exploring Chinese markets. It is a fact that most of the boutique wineries produce and sell wines in premium range. This makes the Chinese market quite attractive. Further, the Chinese themselves hold Australian wines in high spirit. For them, Australia is one of the preferred holiday destinations and a place where some of the finest world wines are made. Stella Bella wines Australia made a strong pitch for their varietals.

Back home in Australia, the winery has good reputation of producing 20 different types of wines. Most of its wines are consumed in Australia only, leaving only about 20 to 30 percent to be exported. Out of the exported wines, about one-third are sent to China. Stella Bella has decided to increase the kitty of exports for its wines and raise it to about 40 percent of the total production in a year. A corresponding increase in Chinese consumption is also sought to be increased so that the total sales to Chinese does not go below the current 30 percent. Wine tasting event was organized as a first step towards achievement of this objective.

The event featured some of its most popular wines-

The buying purpose of wines among the Chinese is also undergoing a change. From buying wines for gifting to others, there is now a market for consumption itself, and, the latter is growing steadily. For Australian wine exporters, this provides a more stable market base for regular exports. At present, France is the chief exporter of wines to China, followed by Australia (detailed stats).
